About this exercise

Write what you will say to open the quarter-start team meeting: plain text, 7 sentences, under 120 words. Sentences 1-2: two wins with numbers. Sentences 3-4: one miss with its number and the cause in plain words. Sentences 5-6: the single focus for next quarter with its target. Sentence 7: one question to the team. No cheerleading words like crush, smash or amazing, and name no individual for the miss.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Naming an individual. The AI mentions Kim. Try: Say: "Name no individual."
  • Cheerleading. The AI says 'crushed it'. Try: Say: "Ban crush, smash, amazing."
  • Missing numbers. The AI says 'improved a lot'. Try: Say: "Include the before and after numbers."
  • No closing question. The AI ends with a motivational line. Try: Say: "Sentence 7 is a question to the team."
  • Too many sentences. The AI writes 12. Try: Say: "Exactly 7 sentences."
  • Markdown. The AI adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain spoken text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each sentence: "each under 17 words."
