About this exercise
Announce a new hire to the team in an email. Plain text, under 90 words. Line 1 is exactly: Subject: Please welcome Dara Cole to Billing. The first sentence of the body states her role and start date. Include one thing she will own in her first 30 days and one fun fact from the notes. The last line is exactly: Say hello at the Monday standup. Do not mention salary, her previous employer's problems or her age.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Old start date. The AI uses Jan 6. Try: Say: "She starts Monday Jan 13."
- Sharing private details. The AI mentions salary or age. Try: Say: "No salary, layoffs or age."
- Wrong ending. The AI ends with 'Best, Tobias'. Try: Say: "The last line is exactly: Say hello at the Monday standup."
- Missing ownership item. The AI skips what she owns. Try: Say: "Include what she owns in her first 30 days."
- Markdown. The AI bolds her name. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap it: "3 sentences, each under 20 words."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
