Sort four bank and delivery messages into scam or real
- For Office and admin
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You got four messages today and want to know which to ignore. Get exactly 4 numbered lines, one per message in order, each labeled exactly Likely scam or Likely real, then one reason from the message itself, like "1. Likely scam: asks for your PIN by text". End with "When unsure, call the number on your card." Under 80 words, plain text. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Getting vague verdicts. The AI says "this could be suspicious" instead of a clear call. Try: Say: "Label each exactly Likely scam or Likely real."
- Generic reasons. The AI lists common scam signs instead of what's in each message. Try: Add: "One reason from the message itself, like: 1. Likely scam: asks for your PIN by text".
- No closing line. The AI ends with a long list of safety tips. Try: Add: "Last line exactly: When unsure, call the number on your card."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 80 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 14 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the labels
- Asks for a reason from each
- Sets the last line
- Sets the number of lines
- Sets a word limit
