Plan a family day trip around nap time and a budget
- For Parents and households
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You're planning a Saturday in the city with two kids. Get a numbered schedule of exactly 5 lines, each like "1. 9:00-11:00 AM: Place ($cost)", that keeps the 1:00-3:00 PM nap back at the hotel, uses the museum's updated hours, and ends with a Total line adding the costs to stay under $90. Plain text, under 90 words. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the updated hours. The AI schedules the museum at 9 AM from its usual hours, ignoring the banner. Try: Add: "The museum opens at 10:00 AM this Saturday."
- Breaking the budget. The AI fits in the aquarium because your partner called it a must. Try: Add: "Stay under $90 and show the total. Skip anything that breaks it."
- Getting a travel guide. The AI writes paragraphs with tips about parking and packing snacks. Try: Show it: "Exactly 5 lines, each like: 1. 10:00 AM-12:00 PM: Science Museum ($40)".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 90 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 10 words, then the Total line."
What a strong prompt includes

- Uses the updated hours
