Brief an interview panel on who covers what
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're briefing your interview panel so they don't all ask the same questions. Write exactly 4 numbered lines in the form 'Name - competency - one sample question', plain text, under 100 words. Use the final panel lineup after the swap, give each person a different competency, and keep the candidate's private details out.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for 'a panel brief'. The AI writes a long doc with headings, the candidate's background and logistics. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines 'Name - competency - sample question'. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line instead: "each line under 22 words."
- Using the old lineup. Theo appears in the original panel, and the swap is below it. Try: Add: "Theo is out; Mo takes coaching."
- Hypothetical questions. AI often writes 'What would you do if...' questions. Try: Add: "Behavioral questions only: 'Tell me about a time...'"
- Sharing private details. The AI includes salary and employer notes as useful context. Try: Add: "Nothing about her salary or current employer."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the updated panel
- Shows the line shape
- Asks for behavioral questions
- Keeps private details out
- Sets a word limit
