Draft SBI feedback about a late report

Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You're giving Marco feedback about a late weekly report using Situation-Behavior-Impact. Write exactly 3 lines labeled Situation:, Behavior: and Impact:, then a 4th line labeled Ask: with one open question, plain text, under 90 words. Use only what you observed yourself, describe actions rather than character, and keep your guesses about why out of it.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for 'feedback'. The AI writes a long script with headings, praise sandwiches and coaching tips. Try: Show the shape: "Lines labeled Situation:, Behavior:, Impact:, Ask:. Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line instead: "each line under 18 words."
  • Putting guesses in his mouth. Your theories are in the notes, and the AI uses them to sound empathetic. Try: Add: "Only what I observed. No guesses about why, nothing secondhand."
  • Mixing up the lines. The AI moves the consequence into Behavior or the times into Situation. Try: Show each line: "Behavior: sent at 1:40, 2:15 and 3:05 on the last 3 Mondays."

What a strong prompt includes
