Write a club event caption with the corrected room
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You run Instagram for the Lakeside University Marketing Club and need a caption for Thursday's mixer. Keep it under 50 words, put the day, time and room in the first line, end with exactly 3 hashtags, and use no emojis. Use the new room, mention only the alum who is still coming, and don't promise pizza, since the order isn't confirmed.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the room change. The first location in the notes is Hallman 210, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "The room changed to Student Union B14."
- Letting it pile on hashtags and emojis. Instagram captions pull the AI toward 7+ hashtags and a party emoji on every line. Try: Add: "No emojis. End with exactly 3 hashtags."
- Promising what isn't happening. The AI sees pizza and both alumni in the notes and promises all of it. Try: Add: "Only Rosa is coming; Marcus cancelled. Don't mention food."
- Trusting the AI to count words. Captions come back at 80+ words with a list of every detail. Try: Cap each part: "First line under 15 words, then 2 short sentences."
- Getting a formatted caption. The AI sometimes bolds the event name or adds a heading. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
What a strong prompt includes

- Uses the new room
- Limits the hashtags
