Write search ad pairs that fit headline and description limits
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You own Fluff & Fold Dog Grooming and are setting up a search ad. You need exactly 3 numbered pairs written as Headline | Description, with each headline under 5 words (the 30-character limit) and each description under 14 words (the 90-character limit). Use the holiday hours from the update, don't promise same-day appointments, and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for "an ad". The AI writes one long ad, or lots of headlines and descriptions in separate bold sections. Try: Ask for pairs: "Exactly 3 numbered lines: Headline | Description."
- Giving character limits only. AI can't count characters well and runs over. Try: Turn them into words with room to spare: "Headline 2 to 4 words, description under 12 words."
- Using the old holiday plan. Extra Sundays come first in the notes, so the AI uses them. Try: Add: "Holiday hours are extra Mondays, Dec 1-22. No Sundays."
- Overpromising. Same-day and cheapest are the AI's favorite ad hooks. Try: Add: "No same-day promises, no cheapest claims."
What a strong prompt includes
