Write unbiased survey questions to fill your persona gaps
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a PM at Driftway, a campervan rental company, writing a short customer survey to fill gaps in your personas. Write exactly 5 numbered questions, each open-ended (not yes/no), each under 20 words, each covering one gap from your notes. No leading wording like "How much did you love" or "Don't you agree", and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking what you already know. The AI includes age and trip length questions. Try: Add: "Skip age, city and trip length; we have them."
- Yes/no questions. "Did you enjoy your trip?" teaches you nothing. Try: Add: "Open-ended only, no yes/no."
- Leading wording. The AI writes "What did you love most?", which assumes the answer. Try: Add: "Neutral wording: no love, amazing or don't you agree."
- Getting a full survey. The AI writes 12 questions with sections, scales and bold headers. Try: Add: "Exactly 5 numbered questions, one per gap, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many
- Asks for open-ended
- Rules out leading wording
- Skips known data
- Asks for only the list
