Rotate study group leaders around exams and conflicts
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your organic chemistry study group meets once before each of the 4 remaining exams, and someone different leads each session. You want exactly 4 numbered lines in date order, each as date - exam topic - leader, under 50 words, plain text. Use the professor's new exam date, and give each person one session that fits their conflicts. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the moved exam. The syllabus date is in the list, so the AI puts the session on Mar 8. Try: Add: "Exam 3 moved to Mar 3, so that session is Sun Mar 1."
- Ignoring conflicts. The AI assigns leaders in list order, putting Aisha on her tournament weekend. Try: Add: "Each person once, around their conflicts. Carmen leads the final."
- Not giving the line shape. The AI writes a paragraph or table. Try: Add: "Each line: date - exam topic - leader."
- Letting the AI add extras. The AI adds the whiteboard idea and birthday. Try: Add: "Only the 4 sessions. Plain text, numbered."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 50 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Uses the new exam date
- Respects conflicts
- Shows the line shape
- Sets a word limit
