Plan a week of social posts around an embargo and brand rules
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're the social media manager planning next week's posts for an outdoor gear brand. You want exactly 5 numbered lines, Monday to Friday, each as day - channel - post topic, under 60 words, plain text. Follow the brand rules and the product embargo in your notes, one post per day, and use only approved ideas. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not stating the rules. The AI puts the sale on Wednesday or uses Instagram every day. Try: Add: "Wednesday is always a customer photo. Max 2 posts per channel."
- Breaking the embargo. The AI teases the tent early in the week to build hype. Try: Add: "No tent mention before Thursday 10am. Launch post Thursday."
- Using unapproved ideas. The AI picks the fun meme or a giveaway. Try: Add: "Only approved ideas."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI builds a content calendar table with captions and hashtags. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines like '1. Mon - Instagram - 20% off winter gloves'. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Follows the brand rules
- Respects the embargo
- Only approved ideas
- Shows the line shape
