Resolve conference room conflicts with the office booking rules
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You manage bookings for the office's one big conference room, and Thursday has overlapping requests. You want exactly 5 numbered lines in time order, each as time - meeting - host, under 60 words, plain text. Settle conflicts using the office booking rules in your notes, drop the canceled request, and don't move anyone to a time they didn't ask for. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the rules. The AI picks winners by what seems important or squeezes everyone in by moving times. Try: Add: "Settle conflicts with the booking rules: client first, then earlier request. Don't move anyone."
- Missing the cancellation. The rehearsal is in the list, and the AI books it. Try: Add: "Drop the canceled rehearsal."
- Not giving the line shape. The AI writes a table with reasons for each call. Try: Add: "Each line: time - meeting - host."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI adds headings and explanations. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines in time order. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Uses the booking rules
- Drops the cancellation
- Doesn't move meetings
- Sets a word limit
