Shortlist homes that meet every one of a buyer's must-haves
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a buyer's agent picking which homes to tour this weekend. You want exactly 3 numbered lines sorted by price (lowest first), each as address - price, under 25 words, plain text. Include only homes that meet all of the buyers' must-haves, and drop the one that went under contract. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Treating must-haves as preferences. The AI keeps a home that misses one must-have, like the carport. Try: Add: "Only homes that meet all four must-haves."
- Missing the update. Aspen Ct looks perfect, and the update is below the list. Try: Add: "Drop Aspen Ct, it's under contract."
- Not sorting. The AI keeps the listing order. Try: Add: "Sort by price, lowest first."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI writes a table with pros and cons. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered lines like '1. 9 Juniper Ln - $398,000'. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 25 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Treats must-haves as rules
- Drops the contract home
- Sorts by price
- Sets a word limit
