Plan a day of client visits around each client's time window
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a field sales rep visiting four clients in one day. You want exactly 4 numbered lines in time order, each as start time - client - town, under 45 words, plain text. Every visit must fall inside that client's window, including the one that just changed, and the drive times in your notes must fit between visits. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the window change. Pine Street says 'after 1:00' in your list, so the AI books it at 1:00. Try: Add: "Pine Street now wants 2:30 or later."
- Ignoring drive times. The AI stacks visits back to back with no travel time. Try: Add: "Leave 45 minutes per visit plus the drive times between towns."
- Not giving the line shape. The AI writes a narrative of the day. Try: Add: "Each line: start time - client - town."
- Letting the AI add extras. The AI adds lunch tips and the expense report. Try: Add: "Only the 4 visits. Plain text, numbered."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 45 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Uses the visit windows
- Includes drive times
- Uses the change
- Shows the line shape
