Build a 30-minute pipeline review around this month's deals
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You run your team's weekly pipeline review, which has a hard 30-minute limit. You want exactly 4 numbered agenda items, one per deal still open and closing this month, biggest deal first, each with minutes, adding up to 30, under 50 words, plain text. Skip deals already closed and deals closing next month. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including every deal. The AI lists the whole export, including closed and next-month deals. Try: Add: "Only open deals closing this month."
- Not sorting by size. The AI keeps the export order. Try: Add: "Biggest deal first."
- No time math. The AI leaves minutes off or goes over 30. Try: Add: "Minutes on each item, adding up to exactly 30, more for bigger deals."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI writes a table with stages and reps. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered items, plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 50 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many items
- Filters the deals
- Sorts by size
- Sets the time math
- Sets a word limit
