Outline a client pitch deck that fits the new budget
- For Freelancers and creators
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You're a freelance web designer pitching to Saltmarsh Inn. Turn your discovery notes into a pitch outline of exactly 5 numbered slides, each written as 'N. Slide title - Say: one sentence'. Slide 1 must be about their problem, not you. The client cut the budget after the call, so pitch only the package that fits it and don't mention the others. Plain text, under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pitching every package. The AI loves a 'good, better, best' slide and includes all three. Try: Add: "Their budget is $5,000. Pitch only Starter. Don't mention the others."
- Opening with yourself. The AI starts decks with 'About me' and your experience. Try: Add: "Slide 1 is about their problem, not me."
- Slides without talk track. The AI lists bullets but not what you'll actually say. Try: Show it: "1. Slide title - Say: one sentence"
- Markdown deck. The AI uses bold and headings for each slide. Try: Add: "Plain text, one line per slide."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each Say sentence under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the new budget
- Opens with their problem
- Shows the line shape
- Sets the slide count
- Caps the length
