About this exercise
Find how many new reps to hire to cover the bookings gap. Use exactly 5 numbered lines: 1. Expected bookings per ramped rep, 2. Capacity from current reps, 3. Gap, 4. New hires needed, 5. Caveat. Show the working in lines 1 to 4. Count a new hire at the first-year productivity in the notes, round the hires up to a whole number, and keep the caveat to one clause. Plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using full attainment. The AI uses 100% of quota. Try: Add: "Use the 80% historic attainment."
- Forgetting new-hire ramp. The AI divides the gap by 0.96 and says 3 hires. Try: Add: "Count a new hire at 50% in year one."
- No rounding or working. The AI states hires with decimals. Try: Add: "Show the working and round up."
- Free-form answer. The AI writes a memo. Try: Add: "Exactly 5 numbered lines, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Lists the five lines
- Asks for working
- Uses the right inputs
- Rounds up
- Ignores the old sheet
