About this exercise
Your Sales Director, Nora, asked how to split next year's $3,600,000 team target. A ramping rep carries half a full quota, and anyone leaving before Jan 1 gets no quota. Email Nora the split with the math on its own line, the full and ramping quota amounts, and the reps in each group. End with the exact line "Final quotas need Finance sign-off." Plain text, under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not explaining the ramp rule. The AI splits the target evenly across everyone on the roster. Try: Add: "Ramping reps carry half a quota; count them as 0.5."
- Including someone who's leaving. The AI counts Gus because he's on the roster. Try: Add: "Gus leaves Dec 31, so he gets no quota."
- Hiding the math. The AI states quota numbers without showing how they were reached. Try: Add: "Show the math on its own line: target / full-quota count = amount."
- No exact closing line. The AI signs off with a friendly offer to help instead. Try: Add: "End with exactly: Final quotas need Finance sign-off."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Planning emails run long. Try: Cap the parts: "4 short lines plus the closing line."
