- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
A prospect asked whether you will build a feature. Reply in plain text under 80 words, starting "Hi Rhea,". Say what the product does today for the need, say the request has been logged with Product, ask one question to understand the use case, and do not say or imply a date, a quarter, or that it is "coming soon" or "planned". Don't promise that it will be built.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Hinting at a roadmap. The AI says 'this is on our roadmap'. Try: Add: "Don't say roadmap, coming soon, planned, or give any date."
- Overselling the workaround. The AI says SMS gateways work. Try: Add: "Mention only today's email alerts."
- No question. The AI ends with a pitch. Try: Add: "Ask exactly one question about the use case."
- Long reply. The AI writes a long email. Try: Add: "Plain text under 80 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the opener
- States what exists today
- States what doesn't
- Asks one question
- Bans promises
