Remind a client of their policy renewal without promising a rate
- For Small business owners
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write a renewal reminder email from an insurance agency to a client. Plain text under 90 words, subject line first, starting "Hi Mrs. Alvarez,". State the renewal date and the 3 things you need from her by Nov 25, and say the renewal quote comes from the carrier after review. Do not promise or estimate the new premium, and do not say the rate will "stay the same" or "go down".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Promising the rate. The AI reassures her that the premium won't jump. Try: Add: "Don't promise or estimate the premium."
- Missing the list. The AI says 'some information'. Try: Add: "List the 3 items needed by Nov 25."
- Wrong dates. The AI confuses the renewal and deadline. Try: Add: "Renewal Jan 1 2027; items due Nov 25."
- Long email. The AI writes headings and bold. Try: Add: "Plain text under 90 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the opener
- Lists the three items
- States the dates
- Bans premium promises
- Limits length
