About this exercise

A customer's contract ends Jan 31 2027 and they have not responded in weeks. Make a save plan as a markdown table with columns Date | Step | Owner and exactly 5 rows, sorted by date. Dates are counted back from Jan 31 using the notice rules in the notes; the first step must be on or after today (Nov 6 2026). No step may use a discount until Finance approves one. Under 130 words. The line after the table must be exactly "Notice deadline: Dec 2 2026."

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Ignoring the notice date. The AI places the proposal after Dec 2 when the customer could already have given notice. Try: Add: "Place the proposal before the Dec 2 notice date."
  • Using a discount as a lever. The AI proposes 10% off to retain. Try: Add: "No discounts; Finance hasn't approved any."
  • Wrong shape. The AI writes a narrative plan. Try: Add: "A 5-row table: Date | Step | Owner, sorted by date."
  • Too long. The AI explains each step. Try: Add: "Each cell under 10 words."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Asks for a table
  • Fixes 5 rows sorted
  • Uses the notice date
  • Bans discounts
  • Limits cell length
