Summarize payment fraud attempts for the audit committee

  • For Finance and accounting
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

The audit committee wants a 3-line summary of payment fraud attempts last quarter. Write exactly 3 numbered lines: attempts and how many were stopped (with the math), dollars at risk that were stopped (with the math), and 'Ask:' with the one decision you need. Use only the incident log's confirmed figures. Plain text, under 70 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Totals without working. The AI gives a total with no math, so the committee can't check it. Try: Ask: "Show the addition on the line."
  • Using outside numbers. The AI adds the news article's figure for context. Try: Say: "Use only the log's confirmed figures."
  • Using the old status. The AI calls F-03 a loss from the early draft. Try: Add: "F-03 was recovered; it's not stopped and not lost."
  • Burying the ask. The AI ends with general recommendations. Try: Say: "Last line: Ask: the one decision and when."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Ask for less than the limit and cap each line: "each line under 15 words, under 50 words total."
  • Letting markdown in. AI adds bold and headings by default, and in the board packet they show up as stray symbols. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
