Plan the injects for a 60-minute ransomware tabletop

  • For IT and security teams

About this exercise

Plan the injects for next week's 60-minute ransomware tabletop. Write exactly 5 numbered injects like '1. T+5 min - [Role]: event. Question: ...', with times going up and all under 60 minutes. Each inject is addressed to one person on the roster by role. Doug (CFO) leaves at the 30-minute mark, so any inject for him comes before T+30. Plain text, under 160 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • A full exercise plan. The AI writes objectives, logistics, a debrief section and more injects than you can run in an hour. Try: Limit it: "Exactly 5 numbered injects, nothing else."
  • No timing. The AI lists events with no clock, so the facilitator can't pace the hour. Try: Show it: "Start each with T+N min, going up, all under 60."
  • Generic roles. The AI addresses 'the team' or invents a CISO you don't have. Try: Say: "Address each inject to one role from the roster and end with a question."
  • Ignoring who leaves early. The AI saves the ransom question for the end, after the CFO has gone. Try: Add: "The CFO leaves at T+30, so his inject comes before that."
  • Letting markdown in. AI adds bold and headings by default, and in the printed facilitator sheet they show up as stray symbols. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Gives the timing
  • Uses the roster
  • Plans around the CFO
  • Says exactly how many
  • Asks for plain text
