Brief your team on only what changed in a policy
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Giving the right context
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Security updated the remote work policy. Tell your team only what's new compared to the old version: first line 'Starting Dec 1:' and then at most 3 bullets, one per change, in plain words. Don't repeat rules that were already in the old policy. Plain text, under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Summarizing the whole policy. The AI restates every rule, so the changes get lost. Try: Say: "Only what's new compared to v1."
- Missing a quiet change. The AI skips changes hidden inside old rules, like 24 hours becoming 1 hour. Try: Add: "Compare each rule line by line, including changed numbers."
- No date first. The AI opens with background about why policies matter. Try: Ask: "First line: Starting Dec 1:"
- Too many bullets. The AI gives one bullet per rule. Try: Limit it: "At most 3 bullets."
- Letting markdown in. AI adds bold and headings by default, and in the team chat they show up as stray symbols. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
