Check your shop's Wi-Fi router against a checklist
- For Small business owners
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Check your café's router settings against the checklist your IT helper gave you. List only the settings that fail, numbered, as 'setting: now -> change to', in the checklist's order. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Grading by general advice. The AI tells you to put a password on guest Wi-Fi, which Ken said is fine. Try: Say: "Check only against Ken's checklist."
- Listing everything. The AI comments on every setting, including the ones that pass. Try: Add: "List only the settings that fail, in checklist order."
- No exact change. The AI says 'secure your router' instead of the setting to flip. Try: Show the shape: "setting: now -> change to."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Ask for less than the limit and cap each line: "each line under 15 words, under 50 words total."
- Letting markdown in. AI adds bold and headings by default, and in a printed note for Ken they show up as stray symbols. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
