Rank candidates with weighted interview scores, math shown
- For HR and recruiting
- You practice Giving the right context
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
The hiring manager decided scores are weighted Technical 50%, Communication 30% and Culture add 20%, not averaged like the sheet does now. Write exactly 4 numbered lines: one per candidate showing each score x its weight added up, then Top: naming the highest weighted score. Plain text, under 120 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the new weights. The AI uses the sheet's plain average and agrees Cole is top. Try: Add: "Weights: Technical 50%, Communication 30%, Culture add 20%."
- No math shown. The hiring manager can't check a bare ranking. Try: Show it: "Ari: 4 x 0.5 + 5 x 0.3 + 3 x 0.2 = 4.1."
- Pick before the numbers. The AI leads with a recommendation and then justifies it. Try: Add: "Top: goes last."
- Long or formatted output. AI adds hiring advice in bold. Try: Add: "Only the 4 lines, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
