Set up a monthly budget sheet for a food truck
- For Small business owners
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You want a simple monthly budget sheet for your food truck business only, using the 5 business categories in your notes. Ask for exactly 5 numbered lines, one per column A-E, each written as "A: Header - what goes in it", where one column is Difference = Planned minus Actual and one column flags rows that are over budget. Plain text, under 100 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not limiting the columns. The AI designs a full bookkeeping sheet with 10+ columns you won't keep up with. Try: Say: "Exactly 5 columns, A-E."
- No over-budget check. The AI adds totals but nothing that tells you which category ran over. Try: Add: "One column is Difference = Planned - Actual; one flags over budget."
- Mixing in personal costs. Your notes include your car payment and groceries, and the AI adds them as categories. Try: Add: "Business categories only, the 5 in my notes."
- Long or formatted output. AI writes a setup guide with bold headings and tips. Try: Add: "Each line under 18 words, plain text."
