Write a one-bug fix prompt for a mobile layout problem
- For Freelancers and creators
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your client's AI-built site has one layout bug on phones. Write the follow-up prompt for the AI builder in one code block of at most 8 lines, with at most one short line outside it. It must name the page and the exact screen width, say what's wrong and what it should look like, say not to change the desktop layout or any other page, and give one check at 375px wide.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for 'mobile friendly'. That vague ask lets the builder restyle every page, like last time. Try: Add: "Only fix /pricing at phone widths."
- No picture of 'right'. The builder guesses a new layout instead of the one you want. Try: Add: "On phones: one column, full-width cards, buttons fully visible."
- No fence around desktop. The builder 'improves' desktop too, which the client loves as is. Try: Add: "Don't change desktop or any other page."
- A prompt wrapped in chat. The AI explains the fix and writes CSS for you. Try: Say: "One code block, at most 8 lines, nothing else."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the page
- Gives the width
- Describes the fix
- Protects desktop
- Asks for one block
