Write a landing-page prompt for an AI UI generator
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Write the prompt you'll paste into an AI UI generator like v0 for a product landing page. Put it in one code block of at most 18 lines, with at most one short line outside. It must use the newly approved headline, the 3 sections in your order, your two brand colors, no photos of people, and a signup button that links to your existing URL instead of a new form. It must end by asking the tool to build only the Hero section first and wait for your feedback.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the draft headline. The brief's draft sits at the top, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "Headline: 'Budget together, stress less.' (approved Friday)."
- Letting the generator design freely. UI generators add pricing tables, testimonials and stock photos of people. Try: Add: "Only Hero, How it works, FAQ, in that order. Illustrations only."
- A new signup form. The generator builds a form that goes nowhere. Try: Add: "The signup button links to https://app.tidepool.example/join. No form."
- Building everything at once. The generator builds the whole page, so fixing the look means redoing it all. Try: End with: "Build only the Hero first and wait for my feedback."
- A prompt you can't paste. The AI explains its choices and splits the prompt up. Try: Say: "One code block, at most 18 lines, nothing else."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the approved headline
- Gives the brand colors
- Bans people photos
- Asks for the Hero first
- Asks for one block
