Turn a café's launch notes into a Midjourney prompt

  • For Small business owners
  • You practice Setting limits and rules
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

You run Juniper & Rye café and want a Midjourney image for the Instagram feed post that launches your fall latte. Get Claude to write one paste-ready Midjourney prompt: a single plain-text paragraph under 110 words that ends with the parameters --ar 4:5 and a --no list. It must name all 3 brand colors by hex code, allow no text in the image except "MAPLE OAT LATTE" (the drink's final name), and show no people or hands at all. Output only the prompt, no intro or notes.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not naming the tool. Without hearing "Midjourney", the AI writes a generic description with no --ar or --no parameters, so you get a square image full of extras. Try: Add: "End with --ar 4:5 --no people, hands, menu, prices."
  • Letting the team's ideas in. The AI tries to please everyone: it adds the barista's hands, a celebrity, or the full menu with prices that image tools turn into gibberish. Try: Add: "No people, no hands, no celebrities. The only text is MAPLE OAT LATTE."
  • Colors by feel, not by code. The AI says "warm earthy tones" and drops the exact brand colors. Try: Add: "Name the 3 brand colors by hex: #2F4A3A, #E8DCC4, #C7782E."
  • Getting a lesson instead of a prompt. The AI adds headings, bold, three variations and tips, so there's nothing to paste. Try: Add: "Output only the prompt as one plain-text paragraph. No intro, no notes."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. Image prompts balloon when the AI lists every idea in the notes. Try: Cap it: "about 60 words before the parameters."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the tool
  • Sets the aspect ratio
  • Gives the hex colors
  • Limits the text in the image
  • Excludes people
