Get a zine cover with room for the masthead
- For College students
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your campus sustainability club is printing its zine and wants cover art from Midjourney. Get Claude to write one paste-ready Midjourney prompt: a single plain-text paragraph under 100 words that ends with --ar 2:3 and a --no list. It must keep the top 20% empty for the masthead you'll add, show this issue's theme (not last issue's), use the risograph look with exactly the 2 ink colors by hex, and include no text or brand logos.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not naming the tool. Without "Midjourney", the AI skips --ar 2:3. Try: Add: "End with --ar 2:3 --no text, logos."
- No room for the masthead. The art fills the top, where GREEN LOOP goes. Try: Add: "Top 20% empty."
- Mixing up issues. The notes mention the garden issue, and the AI may drift to vegetables. Try: Add: "Theme: repair. No gardens or vegetables."
- Too many colors. Riso prints only 2 inks; a full-color image won't print right. Try: Add: "Only 2 inks: #FF48B0 and #00838A."
- Write-up with headings. The AI explains riso printing. Try: Add: "Output only the prompt, about 55 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the tool
- Sets the shape
- Leaves masthead room
- Limits the inks
- Rules out text and logos
