About this exercise
You're running your food bank's November drive and want an Instagram Story image from Canva's AI image tool. Get Claude to write one paste-ready prompt under 90 words, plain text. It must say vertical 9:16 and leave the top fifth empty for the date sticker, show only hands and canned goods with no faces and no real people, allow no text except "FILL THE SHELF", and name both hex colors.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- No space for stickers. The AI fills the frame, and Instagram's date and link stickers cover the main image. Try: Add: "Vertical 9:16, top fifth left empty."
- Using the family photo idea. The AI describes a family picking up food, which shows faces of people you serve. Try: Add: "Only hands and cans. No faces, no real people."
- Listing every item in the image. The AI puts the whole most-needed list on the image, and the words come out garbled. Try: Add: "The only text is FILL THE SHELF."
- Colors by name only. The AI says "warm orange tones", which won't match your brand. Try: Add: "Use #D9480F and #FFF4E6."
- Getting a design write-up. The AI writes headings and bold text instead of a prompt. Try: Add: "Output only the prompt, plain text, about 50 words."
What a strong prompt includes

- Leaves room for stickers
