Ask Midjourney for a seamless repeating pattern
- For Freelancers and creators
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You design printable wrapping paper and want a repeating pattern from Midjourney. Get Claude to write one paste-ready Midjourney prompt: a single plain-text paragraph under 90 words that ends with --tile, --ar 1:1 and a --no list. It must use exactly the 4 hex colors from the current palette, list the 4 motifs, and say flat, evenly spaced, with no text and no characters from any film or brand.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not asking for --tile. Without --tile, the pattern has visible seams when printed big. Try: Add: "End with --tile --ar 1:1."
- Mixing palettes. The notes mention the old candy red, and the AI may use it. Try: Add: "Use only #9B2335, #2F5D50, #F4EBDD, #D8A31A."
- Taking customer requests. The AI adds the famous snowman or the 'Happy Holidays' text. Try: Add: "No text, no characters from any film or brand."
- Getting a guide. The AI explains pattern design with headings. Try: Add: "Output only the prompt, about 45 words."
What a strong prompt includes
