Plan an 8-second Veo clip for a pet adoption day
- For Nonprofit staff
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your animal shelter wants an 8-second vertical clip promoting Saturday's adoption day, made with Veo. Get Claude to write the prompt as a first line stating 9:16 and 8 seconds, then exactly 3 numbered shots, each with its duration and a camera term, adding up to 8 seconds. Plain text, under 140 words. The animals must be generic (not presented as specific pets available for adoption), no people's faces appear, and the only on-screen text is "ADOPT THIS SATURDAY" in the last shot.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Inventing a named pet. The AI names a dog or says 'meet our pup', so families come in asking for an animal that doesn't exist. Try: Add: "Generic animals, no names, not shown as specific adoptable pets."
- Showing volunteers' faces. The AI puts smiling volunteers in frame. Try: Add: "No faces; hands only."
- No timing. Without per-shot timing, the clip runs long. Try: Show: "1. (0-3s) Close-up: ..." and "8 seconds total".
- No camera language. The AI lists moments but not shots. Try: Add: "Each shot names a camera term."
- Production doc formatting. The AI writes headings and bold. Try: Add: "Plain text, under 100 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets shape and length
- Asks for 3 numbered shots
- Keeps animals generic
- Protects faces
- Limits on-screen text
