Request virtual staging that only adds furniture

  • For Real estate agents
  • You practice Setting limits and rules
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

You're listing an empty condo and want ChatGPT to virtually stage the living room photo. Get Claude to write the edit request as exactly 5 numbered instructions, plain text, under 120 words. Instruction 1 keeps the framing (same angle, 4:3, no crop). The middle ones name the furniture to add in the chosen style and say not to change the walls, floors, windows or the view. Instruction 5 says to keep the radiator and the ceiling water stain fully visible.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Following the seller's edits. The AI swaps the view, refinishes the floors and whitens the walls, which misrepresents the unit. Try: Add: "Don't change walls, floors, windows or the view."
  • Hiding flaws with furniture. The AI puts the plant in front of the radiator and drifts toward covering the stain. Try: End with: "5. Keep the radiator and ceiling stain fully visible."
  • Vague staging. "Add modern furniture" gives random pieces in a random style. Try: List the pieces: "walnut sofa, round coffee table, jute rug, floor lamp, fig plant."
  • Framing as an afterthought. Edit tools crop or reframe first, so the framing rule belongs at the top. Try: Start with: "1. Keep the same angle and 4:3 framing; no cropping."
  • Paragraphs and headings. The AI writes one long styled request, hard to check. Try: Add: "Exactly 5 numbered instructions, plain text, each under 25 words."
