Answer a charge nurse application question with evidence
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're applying for a charge nurse position. The form asks for an example of leading during a hard shift. Answer in exactly 3 labeled lines, 'Situation:', 'What I did:' and 'Result:', each under 30 words, using the corrected facts from your notes. Leave out patient names and diagnoses. Plain text. Write a prompt that gets that answer.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing a story. The AI writes a long paragraph, so reviewers can't scan for your actions. Try: Show it: "Exactly 3 lines: Situation:, What I did:, Result:."
- Using the first number. Your notes show 26 patients before the census correction. Try: Say it: "4 RNs for 28 patients."
- Sharing patient details. The AI may include Mr. Feldman, his room and diagnosis, a privacy problem on any application. Try: Add: "No patient names, rooms or diagnoses. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the labels
- Uses the corrected number
- Asks for specific actions
- Protects patient privacy
- Asks for plain text
