Explain new visiting rules to families in four short lines
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your unit's visiting rules changed, and families get them by text. Write exactly 4 numbered rules, each under 12 words, plain text, using the updated rules only. Start with the sender tag 'Maple Unit:' on its own line, and end with the line 'Questions? Call 555-0198.' Nothing else. Write a prompt that gets that text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not setting the count. The AI lists every rule and note, so families miss the ones that changed. Try: Set it: "Exactly 4 numbered rules, each under 12 words."
- Missing the required lines. The AI can't know your texts start with the unit tag and end with the desk number. Try: Give them: "First line: Maple Unit: Last line: Questions? Call 555-0198."
- Using draft rules. The memo shows the old 9 pm hours and the first draft's 'under 14'. Try: Say it: "Hours 9 am-8 pm. Children under 12, lounge only."
- Adding staff notes. Trying to be complete, the AI mentions the guard or the nurse manager. Try: Add: "Nothing else. No staff details. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes

- Gives the sender tag
- Gives the last line
