Nominate a coworker for an award using the actual criteria
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're nominating a coworker for the company's Impact Award. Write exactly 3 numbered lines, one per award criterion and named exactly as the form names it, each with one example under 25 words. Use only examples from inside the eligibility window. Plain text, nothing else. Write a prompt that gets that nomination.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing an essay. The AI writes a long, glowing nomination letter. Try: Show it: "Exactly 3 numbered lines like: 1. Customer Outcomes: ..."
- Making up criteria names. The AI invents its own headings like 'Leadership' or 'Teamwork'. Try: Say it: "Label each line with the form's criterion name exactly."
- Dropping the numbers. The AI says Rosa "improved satisfaction" without the 82% to 91%. Try: Add: "Each example includes its number."
- Using ineligible work. The holiday surge plan is impressive, so the AI includes it, but it's outside the window. Try: Add: "Only Jan 1-Oct 31, 2026. Leave out the Nov 2025 plan. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the number of lines
- Uses the criteria names
- Asks for numbers
- Checks the window
- Asks for plain text
