Translate retail experience for a project coordinator application
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're moving from retail management to project coordination. The application asks about your experience managing projects, under 80 words. Translate two retail examples into project terms (timeline, budget, people), each with a number from your notes, and don't use store-floor jargon ('planogram', 'shrink', 'SKU', 'endcap'). End with your Google Project Management certificate date and its credential ID, GPM-88213. Write a prompt that gets that answer.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 80 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "4 sentences, each under 18 words."
- Leaving it in retail terms. The AI describes the remodel as store work, not as a project with a timeline and budget. Try: Add: "Frame the remodel as a project: 6 weeks, 3 crews, $3,000 under an $85,000 budget."
- Store-floor jargon. Your notes are full of retail words that a hospital ops team won't know. Try: Ban them: "No planogram, shrink, SKU or endcap."
- Wrong certificate date. Your resume's August date may slip in. Try: Add: "End: I completed the Google Project Management Certificate in October 2026 (credential ID GPM-88213)."
