Get recruiter-eye feedback on your LinkedIn About section
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're switching from teaching to instructional design and want feedback on your LinkedIn About section from a recruiter's point of view. Ask for a first line starting 'First 2 lines:' that says whether the opening tells a recruiter what job you want, then exactly 3 numbered notes quoting phrases to change. Plain text, no rewritten About section. Write a prompt that gets that feedback.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking "is this good?". The AI praises it and offers a full rewrite. Try: Show it: "Line 1: First 2 lines: ... Then exactly 3 numbered notes."
- Not saying who's reading. The AI reviews it like a teacher's bio, missing that recruiters only see 2 lines. Try: Add: "Review it as a corporate recruiter who sees only the first 2 lines."
- Notes without quotes. The AI says "make it more results-focused" without pointing at the words. Try: Add: "Each note quotes the exact phrase to change."
- Getting a rewrite. AI hands back a new About section, so it isn't in your voice. Try: Add: "No rewrite. Plain text."
