Reply to a public 'hidden fees' comment on your ad
Practice: Getting the tone right. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Someone commented on your Facebook ad that you have 'hidden fees'. Write a public reply under 40 words, plain text, no emojis. The first sentence states the actual fee facts, then invite them to message you. Don't argue, don't say 'valued customer', and don't promise a discount in public. Write a prompt that gets that reply.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 40 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "2 sentences, each under 16 words."
- Opening with an apology. AI public replies start with "We're so sorry to hear this!", which reads like admitting fault. Try: Say it: "Sentence 1: no hidden fees, just shipping under $35 and tax, shown before you pay."
- Sharing his order in public. Trying to prove the point, the AI posts his order totals for everyone to see. Try: Add: "Invite him to DM us. Don't share his order details."
- Coupon and stock lines. AI offers a discount code to calm things down and calls him a 'valued customer'. Try: Add: "No discount, no 'valued customer', no emojis, don't argue."
- Forgetting where it gets pasted. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as ** and # clutter in a Facebook comment. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes

- Leads with the facts
- Moves it to private

- Sets the tone
