Find what's missing from your parking change memo
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You drafted a memo about the new parking rules. Ask for feedback whose first line starts 'Missing:' and names the most important information the memo leaves out, then exactly 2 numbered notes on sentences staff are likely to misread, each quoting the sentence's first 5 words. Plain text, no rewritten memo. Write a prompt that gets that feedback.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for general feedback. The AI comments on tone and gives a full rewrite. Try: Show it: "Line 1: Missing: ... Then exactly 2 numbered notes."
- Not checking what's left out. The AI judges the memo's wording but doesn't compare it to the facilities facts. Try: Add: "Compare it to the facilities facts and name the biggest missing piece first."
- Notes you can't find. The AI says "some sentences are vague" without pointing to which. Try: Add: "Each note quotes the first 5 words of the sentence."
- Getting a rewrite. AI hands back a new memo, which skips the thinking you wanted. Try: Add: "No rewrite. Nothing after the 2 notes. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes

- Compares to the facts
