Apply to a brokerage mentorship program in a few honest lines
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a new agent applying to your brokerage's mentorship program. The form asks what you want to learn. Answer in exactly 3 numbered goals, each under 15 words and each tied to something specific that happened in your first deals, then one last line requesting Grace Chen as your mentor. Plain text, nothing else. Write a prompt that gets that answer.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing a cover letter. The AI writes paragraphs about being eager to grow. Try: Set it: "Exactly 3 numbered goals, each under 15 words."
- Generic goals. The AI writes "get better at negotiating" without what actually happened. Try: Add: "Tie each goal to a real moment: the lost listing, the inspection walk-away, the $6,000 repair counter."
- Forgetting the mentor request. The form asks you to request one, and the AI may skip it or list all three. Try: Add: "Last line: Requested mentor: Grace Chen."
- Extra lines. AI adds "I'm excited to learn!" and your yearly goal. Try: Add: "Nothing else. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the number of goals
- Ties goals to real events
- Names the mentor
- Cuts the extras
- Asks for plain text
