About this exercise

You're a junior looking for a Summer 2027 data analyst internship. Get a first line that starts "Headline:" and includes "Summer 2027 data analyst internship", then a line "About:" followed by a short first-person paragraph, all under 120 words, plain text. Recruiters in your career class said to skip the words "passionate", "driven" and "results-oriented", and you must not overstate your SQL or Python.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not saying the exact labels. The AI writes a headline but rarely names your goal, and it formats the parts its own way. Try: Show it: "Line 1: Headline: ... Summer 2027 data analyst internship. Then About: ..."
  • Getting the buzzwords. AI LinkedIn copy is full of 'passionate' and 'driven' unless you ban them by name. Try: Add: "Don't use passionate, driven or results-oriented."
  • Letting the AI inflate you. The AI copies your roommate's 'SQL expert' line because it sounds strong. Try: Add: "I took one SQL class. Don't call me an expert or a data scientist."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "headline under 20 words, About 4 sentences under 16 words each."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in LinkedIn, which doesn't show bold. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
