Turn two part-time jobs into a clean resume Experience section
- For College students
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You're building your first real resume for campus job applications. Get only the Experience section: for each of your 2 jobs, a header line formatted "Job title | Employer | dates", then exactly 2 bullets starting with "- ", so 4 bullets in total, under 80 words, plain text. Use the corrected dates in your notes, and never start a bullet with "Responsible for".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not showing the layout. The AI picks its own layout, with dates on a separate line, bold titles and 4 or 5 bullets per job. Try: Show it: "Sandwich Maker and Cashier | Daily Crust Deli | Aug 2024 - Present" then 2 bullets.
- Missing the corrected date. The AI may use June 2024, the first date in your notes. Try: Add: "The deli job started August 2024."
- Getting 'Responsible for' bullets. Duty-style bullets are an AI and resume habit, and they hide what you actually did. Try: Add: "Start each bullet with an action verb, never 'Responsible for'."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each bullet: "each bullet under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in an online application form. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
