Write three subject lines for an adoption email series

  • For Customer success managers
  • You practice Setting limits and rules
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Beginner

About this exercise

Write one subject line for each email in the series as exactly three lines starting "Email 1:", "Email 2:" and "Email 3:". Each subject is 6 words or fewer and names the one action. Never use the words Reminder, Urgent, Last chance or Don't miss. Plain text, under 40 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Copying the bad subjects. The AI reuses the urgent tone from the past subjects. Try: Say: "Never use Reminder, Urgent, Last chance or Don't miss."
  • Naming no action. The AI writes 'Welcome to Cascade'. Try: Say: "Each subject names its one action."
  • Wrong length or labels. The AI writes long subjects without labels. Try: Name the three labels and the 6-word limit.
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Asks for plain text
  • Sets a length limit
  • Names the labels
  • Bans pressure words
