About this exercise

Build an onboarding status table with the header row exactly "Milestone | Status | Next date" and four rows. Status is exactly one of Done, On track, At risk or Blocked. At risk means due within 7 days and not done. Blocked means waiting on an item from the customer. Next date is the due date, or "-" if done. Today is Nov 6. Plain text, table only, under 60 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Following the CSM's comment. The comment says On track for training, but it is due within 7 days and not done. Try: Say: "Apply the rules exactly: due within 7 days and not done = At risk."
  • Missing the blocker. The AI marks SSO At risk or On track. Try: Say: "Waiting on a customer item = Blocked."
  • Wrong dates or layout. The AI shows the completion date or adds a column. Try: Say: "Next date = the due date, or - if done."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes
