About this exercise
Reply to Ravi, who uses a screen reader. First line exactly "Hi Ravi,". Thank him, say the issue is logged with its reference, give the workaround in words (no color or position directions), and do not give a fix date or say it will be fixed soon. End with "Maya, Support". Plain text, under 80 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Promising a fix. The AI says 'we're working on it and it will be fixed soon'. Try: Say: "No fix date and no 'soon'."
- Visual directions. The AI says 'the green button at the bottom'. Try: Say: "No colors or positions on screen."
- Missing reference or workaround. The AI only apologizes. Try: Say: "Give ENG-2210 and the workaround."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives greeting and sign-off
- Includes the reference and workaround
- Rules out promises and visuals
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
