About this exercise
Explain the bill increase to the customer in exactly three lines starting "Old:", "New:" and "Why:". Show each total as a sum, like "$35 + $5 - $10 = $30". Do not mention taxes. Why names both causes and one step she can take. Plain text, under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Blaming taxes. The agent comment and the customer's question point to taxes. Try: Add: "Do not mention taxes."
- Naming only one cause. The AI mentions the promo ending and forgets the paper fee. Try: Say: "Why: both causes, then one step she can take."
- No arithmetic. The AI states only the totals. Try: Say: "Show each total as a sum."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
