Report response-time changes in seconds across mixed units
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write four lines for your director, Hana: "Chat:", "Email:", "Phone:" and "Watch:". Convert every time to seconds and show the change like "190 to 170 (-20 seconds)". Watch names the one channel that got worse by the most seconds. Plain text, under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Mixing units. The AI compares 13 seconds with 20 minutes without converting. Try: Say: "Convert everything to seconds first."
- Echoing the analyst. The comment says Phone is the biggest slip, so the AI agrees. Try: Add: "Do your own math. Ignore the comment."
- Wrong layout. The AI adds a summary paragraph. Try: Name the four labels and the change format.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
